Morris Smith, Owner of Stop Restoration of Fort Worth, TX, Takes Home IFA’s Franchisee of 2021
Congratulations, Morris Smith, owner of STOP Restoration of Fort Worth, TX, on being Franchisee of the Year. With his STOP Restoration business, he has built a team of diverse individuals whose lives he has enriched beyond the workplace. He has improved his team's career prospects by hiring younger staff members of challenging socio-economic backgrounds. Morris perfectly embodies the Open for Opportunity Pillar: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Morris is proud of the example he can set for other young men within his community. "What I find most rewarding about my position," says Morris, "is that I interact with a lot of young men in our community, many from diverse backgrounds. Many of these young men have never seen a successful black man or a business owner. My duty is to set a positive example and to fan the spark in their mind that says: 'If he can do it, so can I.'" Morris values the responsibility of running a successful business while positively impacting his community.
Morris teaches his team member skills sets that are transferable to enhance their career paths. He encourages his team to constantly learn new skill sets to set them up for life. "When a staff member starts here as a technician, most of them have zero experience. One of the things I tell them is: 'The skillset I will teach you is not just a skill set; it's a job and career path. This skill set is in high demand, and you can get a job like this throughout the country." Morris is dedicated to investing in the skill development of his staff for them to become better versions of themselves.
We are immensely proud of Morris Smith's efforts to promote a diverse and inclusive environment. Here at STOP, we agree with Morris that the most powerful thing we can do is have a tangible impact on people's lives. At STOP Restoration, we are never satisfied with average, which is why we constantly look for ways to be innovative, both within our business and our communities. These are some of the many reasons so many have made the step to become a STOP Restoration owner.
