You know how when you buy a washing machine and the sales person tries to upsell you for another $50-$70 for the braided steel water supply lines? Well, my advice is to go with it. We just came from a water loss in a basement where the rubber supply line ruptured and a fabric softener sheet covered the drain. In a matter of minutes the floor of the laundry room was covered in 3”-6” of water overflowing into the rest of the finished basement.
Now the homeowner is faced with the inconvenience of the whole ordeal and will need to pay out their deductible as part of the drying and reconstruction project. Most insurance companies deductibles are at least $500, some as high as $4000 per incident. That $50 supply line doesn’t sound so bad now does it?
