Here are some steps to keep in mind if you suffer a water loss in your home.
- Stop the water! You can usually shut off the fixture but may have to cut off the main valve or even go out to the street and cut it off there. If you’re on a well, you’ll do that at the well shut-off valve.
- If you can’t shut off the water to the problem area, call a plumber ASAP!
- CALL Service Team at 336-829-5345. We’re always ready to mobilize one of our teams so that we can stabilize the situation and prevent it from getting worse.
- Once we’ve triaged the situation we can help you determine if it’s worth filing an insurance claim with your agent. Notice I said AGENT and not Insurance Company. The best advocates for you in a loss are going to be us and your agent. We both want you taken care of and to have you happy by the end of the project.
Once our team arrives on site, we’ll assess the situation, begin water extraction and put a plan together for any necessary demolition or if possible we’ll dry things in place.
In some situations, it’s necessary to remove the contents from the home. This is done for several reasons. One, in some cases the flooring must come up in order to dry the structure. Two, in the event of significant water, furniture and other contents may be soaked or even damaged. Removing them from the house allows for drying if needed. If unsalvageable, the items will be logged and disposed of.
We’ll move your personal items, furniture and belongings out of the affected area so they don’t get damaged during the loss and then place dehumidifiers and air movers to get things drying as quickly as possible.
One of our trained technicians will monitor your property on a daily basis and will handle adding, removing or relocating equipment to ensure that your home is drying efficiently without overdrying or causing secondary damage within your home or business.
Once our technician has confirmed that the structure is dry, we can begin the process of putting your home back together. We will work with your insurance company to make sure the process is as stress free and as fast as possible.
Our goal is to help you get back to “normal” as quickly as possible.
